Stéphane Sessegnon left West Bromwich Albion earlier this summer after his contract expired at the Premier League club.
The 32-year-old is now set to sign a two-year contract with Ligue 1 club Montpellier, reports L’Equipe on Friday.
L’Equipe say Sessegnon is expected to sign with Montpellier tomorrow or on Sunday, after rejecting a €70k per month contract, and €200k signing on fee, from Toulouse.
Laurent Nicollin, deputy chairman of Monpellier, has also confirmed the deal, but insists nothing is done until it’s official.
He said: “He stayed with us for three days, and visited the city and facilities.
“There is nothing official, nothing good. For now, he’s sorting out personal matters in England and must return to us on Saturday, if he comes.”
If the deal goes through Sessegnon will be reunited with Montpellier boss Frédéric Hantz under whom he played at Le Mans.
Sessegnon was released from West Bromwich Albion in the summer, as it was expected after falling out with Tony Pulis.
