Hatem Ben Arfa revived his career last season at OGC Nice, as he scored 17 goals in Ligue 1, but things haven’t gone according to plan at Paris-Saint Germain.

Reports in the French media suggest Ben Arfa is no longer a part of Unai Emery’s plans at Paris-Saint Germain, and is expected to leave the club.

Ben Arfa has been excluded from several squads, including for the match against Toulouse in Ligue 1 tonight.

According to Italian website Calciomercato, Leicester and Southampton are already planning a move in January for the former Newcastle star. The Premier League clubs, however, face competition from Toulouse and AC Milan.

Calciomercato state Ben Arfa is currently earning a huge salary of €10m per season at Paris-Saint Germain (that sounds a little higher than the reality), and the Premier League clubs will feel they’ve an advantage over others.

Ben Arfa being linked to Southampton isn’t really surprising with Claude Puel in charge of the Premier League club.

Whilst a Puel reunion can’t be ruled out, the Southampton and Leicester links, which are growing, are probably largely inspired by Puel and Nampalys Mendy speaking out in the French media this week in support of the player.
