Let’s be honest, not many youngsters in Spain, or in Germany where Joselu spent part of his childhood, grow up dreaming of playing for Stoke City. It would be quite a niche ambition.
Therefore, the Stoke owned player can be forgiven for saying that whilst he’s contracted to Mark Hughes’ side, his ultimate dream is Real Madrid.
Speaking to Spanish newspaper AS, Joselu was asked if he’d like to return to the club he played B football for: “Who does not want to return or play in Madrid? Sure, but it’s not a goal you have in mind. I have a contract with Stoke and now I’m very focused on Deportivo. I think day by day.”
Currently on loan at Deportivo La Coruna, Joselu had a terrible start to his spell in Spain, injured in his debut match. Now fit again, AS asked Joselu how he’s doing physically: “I’m fine. It was three months, but now again I have a good feeling. I do not know if I can go for 90 minutes, the body decides, but I’m prepared for whatever the coach wants.”
At 26 years of age, Joselu really needs to kick on this season with Depor. He has a Stoke City contract until 2019 and what will happen to Joselu next season very much depends on what he does during the current campaign.
