Lyon and Marseille have joined the race to sign Lazio forward Filip Djordjevic, according to claims in the Italian media. The 29-year-old looks to be on the verge of leaving the Serie A side, and has also been linked with Middlesbrough in recent months.

TMW report both Lyon and Marseille are looking to move in on the Serbian when the transfer window opens in the new year, and are hoping to sign the forward on loan until the summer.

However, Lazio are keen to sell Djordjevic outright in January in order to raise funds to sign new players, which could benefit Middlesbrough.

Lazio want bids in the region of €8m for the attacker and even though the Premier League  club aren’t prepared to go this high, say TMW, the Italian side may be tempted with a cash offer from Middlesbrough.

In October we covered reports from Italy that Middlesbrough were tracking Djordjevic, and Lazio would be prepared to listen to offers.

Manager Aitor Karanka could be in the hunt for a forward next month with summer signing Alvaro Negredo failing to consistently bring goals to the team, and Djordjevic is an option.
