Bournemouth midfielder Hamed Traorè will need to ‘regain his identity’ if he is to make his potential loan move to Napoli a success.
That’s according to scout turned sports director Carlo Jacomuzzi, who believes the move to the Italian champions may not be an ideal one.
Traorè is on the verge of making a short-term return to Serie A with champions Napoli, who have moved to secure him on loan from Bournemouth this month after President Aurelio de Laurentiis promised signings.
The 23-year-old has only been with Bournemouth since January last year, initially joining them on loan from Sassuolo before the move was made permanent for €25.62m in the summer.
He’s struggled to establish himself for the Cherries, though, making just three appearances in the Premier League this season as a bout of malaria has kept him out of action.
Bournemouth now seem willing to sanction a temporary exit and a report today indicated he would undergo a medical in the next 48 hours before completing the move.
The hope is that he can rediscover his form back in Italy after previously impressing for Sassuolo, but Jacomuzzi can’t see that happening.
“Traorè has done well in the Premier League, it is not easy to go from small realities like Sassuolo and Empoli to the Premier League, but he has immediately settled in England,” he said.
“To be honest, I don’t think he is for this Napoli side; I don’t think he has the personality to go to Napoli and impose himself.
“Hamed needs to regain his identity and he can do that with a team that is doing well.”
