Darko Churlinov’s loan from FC Burnley to Schalke 04 is still to be made official, but the move is already being commented on by the Bundesliga club.
The Dattelner Morgenpost today features some quotes from sports director Marc Wilmots, who confirms that the player is about to be signed.
“Darko knows Schalke 04, he knows the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga, and he can be used in a variety of ways in the attack,” said Wilmots.
“All fitness tests were very good. Darko will need another week or two to reach his full potential, but the season is still long.”
It’s said that only some bureaucratic details are left for the clubs to make the deal official, and that’s considered just a ‘formality’.
Churlinov is set to arrive on a loan deal, with Schalke having an option to buy him for €2.5m at the end of the season.
Dattelner Morgenpost recalls the rumours which said the player had been dreaming of this return to his ‘favourite club’ for months.
The winger is leaving Burnley just one and a half years since his arrival from Stuttgart.
