Earlier this month, the Italian sport media linked Wolves with a move for Christian Eriksen. The former Tottenham man has struggled since moving to Inter Milan and Antonio Conte hasn’t been impressed with the player, so a January move is on the cards.

Inter’s problem is finding a home for the player, and Wolves were one of several Premier League clubs pushed forward as an option. This was met with denials from the English club, yet the claims are persistent.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports there’s been no official offer from anywhere for Eriksen, but states there is interest from England and the Netherlands, with it claimed that’s from ‘specifically Wolverhampton and Ajax’.

Both clubs are said to have had contact with the player’s entourage, yet it’s clear that for anything to happen there would have to be a compromise on wages. Wolves and Ajax will have no intention of covering Eriksen’s salary, and it would either take him accepting a hefty pay cut or Inter agreeing to subsidise his pay packet.

Eriksen got a rare start for Inter on Wednesday evening, playing in the club’s 2-1 Coppa Italia victory over Fiorentina. Gazzetta dello Sport clearly weren’t impressed with his contribution, marking him 5.5/10.
