SD Huesca are ‘optimistic’ about completing a deal for Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Rafa Mir ‘in the coming days’.
Mir is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest, who he joined in the summer transfer window, but has struggled in his time at the club.
The striker has managed just two starts for Forest this season and has also failed to make the squad for their last four league games.
The possibility of bringing his spell at Nottingham Forest to a premature end has been heavily rumoured as a result, with a return to Spain the most likely option for the Wolves man.
Huesca are one of the interested parties, and according to Heraldo, they are now optimistic they can get a deal done.
Heraldo report that the ‘next few hours will be vital’ with Mir having made it clear he wants to go back to Spain once his spell at Nottingham Forest is cut short.
Mallorca are another interested party, and he has family ties to the Balearic Islands, but Huesca have the power of finance on their side.
They would be willing to assume his wages from Wolves until the end of the season, around €500,000, with the club having earned €400,000 by loaning out Damián Musto.
Huesca ‘pursued’ Mir in the past and ‘maintains a good understanding’ with the striker’s ‘surroundings’, which would presumably make negotiations with Wolves easier this month.
