For years, whenever there’s been doubts around the manager of Barcelona, Xavi Hernandez has been brought into the picture.
It’s long been felt that Xavi is the man who can get the Blaugrana back playing their best football, and return some of the identity which has been lost since Pep Guardiola left Catalonia.
Ronald Koeman’s position is thought to be in doubt right now, with recent results seeing Barcelona slip away in the title race. Earlier today we covered claims from the Catalan media that Xavi remains the main option, and it’s just a matter of Joan Laporta deciding what to do with the Dutchman and whether to change manager this summer or next.
As well as discussing finances, Xavi would want assurances of the structure around the team, and Laporta would have to ease his worries. Despite recently signing a new contract with Al Sadd, Xavi is thought to have a release clause specifically for Barcelona.
