Since Jorge Mendes was seen arriving in Barcelona today, the Spanish media is curious about the agent’s presence in the city.
Sport report the agent will tonight have a meeting with Barça president Joan Laporta. They’re expected to have dinner at a ‘well-known restaurant’ and speak of a few players.
In the list of potential arrivals, Sport adds a Wolverhampton Wanderers’ star, which is Ruben Neves.
There are not many details regarding whether Barcelona will make a new effort to land the Wolves’ midfielder, with the report only naming him among the likes of Angel Di Maria and Bernardo Silva.
The report points out Barça’s transfer window is ‘one of the most complex in history’, with the club struggling to fund big signings, and Jorge Mendes should be there to help them find solutions.
Since the agent’s relationship with Wolves is well known, it’s no surprise that there are players from the Molineux side on the table, although, at this stage, it sounds difficult for the Catalan giants to be able to sign Neves.
Last week, we covered Sport claiming that despite the interest in signing him, the pursuit should be left for next year, since he’s ‘unaffordable’ for Barça this summer.
