Monchi has left AS Roma.
After months of reports in Italy and Spain that the transfer guru wasn’t completely happy at the Serie A club, and that they wouldn’t be too sorry to see the back of him, the exit has happened.
Of course, the immediate assumption is that he could be off to Arsenal.
There’s been links of that nature for quite some time and multiple Italian sources spoke of the possibility earlier on Friday, having already reported it countless times.
Monchi worked with Unai Emery at Sevilla and teaming up with him again seems to make good sense for all involved. Arsenal would hope the pairing could work just as well as it did in Spain, and help bring trophies in whilst providing good value on transfers.
Following the Roma exit, AS say Monchi could be at Arsenal ‘very soon’. Marca also believe he’s aiming towards a role with the Premier league club.
Mundo Deportivo say ‘it seems Monchi will go to London’.
Getting him in now would be a boost for summer transfer planning.
