Catalan outlet Sport has the Premier League side Manchester United highlighted on their back page this Tuesday.

In a column written by César Luis Menotti, it’s analysed if managers Zinedine Zidane and Mauricio Pochettino would be ready to take charge of the Red Devils in case of José Mourinho’s departure.

Let’s make it clear that the article doesn’t bring any information, and doesn’t even talk about the chances of the Portuguese boss being sacked. It just has a say about the possibility of Zidane or Pochettino being appointed for the job.

What Menotti basically does is to compliment both managers. He claims that they’re both very respected by their players, and that’s something you can see just by watching their teams’ behaviour.

The writer has a discreet go at Mourinho by saying that Zidane and Pochettino never needed any ‘provocations’ to get protagonism, as their jobs done at Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur were enough to make them great managers. Menotti’s conclusion is that both bosses are well capable of taking charge of Manchester United.

We just find a bit weird that this column is out now that José Mourinho has just won two away games at the club, and the rumours about a departure have vanished for a while. But for some reason, the author thought it was a good time to talk about it.
