Despite a positive start to the season, the past week hasn’t been very good for José Mourinho, losing three games in a row for the first time since his Porto days.
Not quite instilling panic in fans’ hearts just yet, a couple more bad results could certainly change the tide in the stands and the press, who are all currently focusing on Wayne Rooney after a particularly bad performance against Watford at the weekend.
Sport, on the other hand, pretty much ignore the England international on Monday and focus on the Special One instead.
Criticising pretty much all of his signings’ form so far, the Catalan newspaper also hint the players could already be starting to lose faith in their manager after recent results, mostly because of his approach in preparing for a game.
They say there is a certain ‘bewilderment within the squad’ towards Mourinho, who is capable of changing his scheme from one day to the other without giving any explication, praising a player one day and completely ignoring him the next, or even preparing a game for three days one way, only to completely change it on the fourth.
Giving the example of the Manchester derby, which United lost 2-1 to an impressive Manchester City, Sport explain Mourinho started off the week planning on using the same eleven as he had done previously, only to change everything and include Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Jesse Lingard two days before.
If all of this is true, which, considering it’s coming from Sport and they aren’t the biggest Mourinho fans, is debatable, then it appears José Mourinho is still unsure as to what his best team is seven games into the season.
