Over the past few weeks, there have been very contradicting rumours regarding Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Manchester City.
Reports from Italy claimed the player was close to a move to Pep Guardiola’s new side while the news from the English press was that City weren’t exactly sure why such reports were being published.
Obviously, as everyone seems to, for some reason, have a poor opinion of the English press, and the fact it’s clearly far more exotic to believe foreign press, everyone got excited.
The reports, after going a bit quiet, have reemerged of late, and now talks have reportedly stalled due to wages and agent fees.
Well, these could be the least of their worries if AS are to be believed as Atlético Madrid are now turning their attention to the Gabonese forward as other targets are proving hard to convince.
The Spanish newspaper state the Spanish club are aware bringing the Bundesliga star to their club would be difficult and expensive, but they know it’s not impossible.
Dortmund have proven to be a selling club if the right offer comes along (Götze, Gündogan, Hummels…), and that’s what Atlético are banking on.
Of course, if it came to a bidding war, Manchester City would probably come out on top, and both provide good sporting projects (after all, who wouldn’t want Guardiola or Simeone as their manager), but Atlético aren’t ready to give up.
We doubt any of this will be resolved soon, to be honest, and we fully expect more “twists” to come in the near future.
