Aitor Karanka parting ways with Middlesbrough is obviously big news in the Spanish sport media. Karanka having a prominent role with Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid is a big reason for his popularity, with the former Middlesbrough manager always seeming the good cop to Mourinho’s bad cop.
The Spanish media took pride in Karanka’s achievements with Middlesbrough and with the team promoted and signing the likes of Alvaro Negredo and Victor Valdes, the interest only grew.
Valencia regional newspaper Super Deporte report on Thursday that Karanka’s exit will have ended out any chances Negredo had of staying at Middlesbrough beyond the end of the current season.
Karanka is said to have been the man who supported Negredo most, and rated him at Boro, and now the club have ‘no intention’ of using the clause to make the Valencia loan permanent.
Negredo will be returning to Valencia, and the Spanish club will be left with the question of what to do with him.
