There is a claim in the Danish media Southampton sent a scout to the game between Nordsjaelland and AaB for last weekend’s round of matches.

The Saints have a history of signing Scandinavian players, and it seems like they’re again trying to tap into this.

Tipsbladet report Southampton were in attendance for the game on Friday night, and they were joined by fellow Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur and Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen.

The Danish newspaper hasn’t reported who Southampton were watching, but the standout player was Nordsjaelland midfielder Mathias Jensen.

Jensen was key in his side’s 3-1 victory over AaB, and his performances this season have led to interest from Spain and the Netherlands.

It’s likely Jensen will move on in the near future to progress his career, and could be an option for the Premier League side ahead of the next window.

Southampton’s activity in the market this summer will be determined by staying in the Premier League or not, but Jensen’s £7m valuation still shouldn’t be an issue if they drop into the Championship.
