At the start of the transfer window, it seemed that Roméo Lavia was going to be leaving Southampton rather quickly.

The midfielder was highly sought after, and big clubs, such as Liverpool and Arsenal were said to be interested in signing him to keep him in the Premier League.

However, as DH point out on Tuesday, he still hasn’t been sold, and has started pre-season with Southampton in Turkey.

That’s not something the player is displeased about, because he is on ‘very good terms’ with the Saints, who know that an exit is ‘inevitable’ this summer.

Therefore, the 19-year-old is simply getting his fitness back on track after the break to avoid any injuries that could affect a move away from the Championship side.

Southampton are also being careful with him, as shown by the 30 minutes of action he has seen over the first two friendlies, and Lavia is ‘very excited’ about getting transferred, according to his entourage.

However, the biggest problem is that the young Belgian has received ‘no concrete offer’, regardless of the fact three big Premier League clubs are after him (the aforementioned two and Chelsea).

He has to wait for some of their players to be sold, and only then would they come forward for him, with Saudi sides eyeing some of their stars.

Therefore, patience is key for Lavia, and as DH say, the next few days should allow everyone to ‘see clearer’.
