There’s a claim in the Turkish media that Southampton forward Paul Onuachu has handed in a transfer request.
The 30-year-old has been linked with a return to Trabzonspor following his loan spell with he Super Lig side last season.
Fanatik have reported on the latest developments regarding Trabzonspor’s pursuit for the Nigeria international after weeks of transfer talks with Southampton.
It’s claimed Onuachu has retuned to training with the Premier League side but is said to be unhappy with his situation.
Subsequently, the centre forward has spoken to Saints boss Russell Martin and told him he wants to leave the club this summer. It’s been well documented in recent weeks that Onuachu is keen to re-sign for Trabzonspor.
With these latest developments Fanatik report the Turkish side are closing in on a deal for the player. Trabzonspor now just need to come to an agreement with Southampton with regards to the transfer fee and are said to be getting closer to the English side’s valuation of the attacker.
Onuachu made 25 appearances last season for Trabzonspor, scoring an impressive 17 goals. He’s contracted to Southampton until June 2026.
