Southampton are eyeing up a move for Stuttgart midfielder Orel Mangala as they look to replace Pierre-Emile Höjbjerg.
Höjbjerg completed a move to Tottenham today, having made it clear he wants to leave Southampton this summer after entering the final year of his contract at the club.
His departure leaves a hole in Saints midfield that manager Ralph Hasenhùttl will be keen to fill and Mangala is a man he has identified to do so.
That’s according to Stuttgarter-Zeitung who say the Premier League club have ‘become aware’ of the VfB midfielder in their hunt for Höjbjerg’s replacement.
In fact, their interest appears to be serious, with the newspaper stating that they would be ‘prepared’ to pay €11m to sign the 22-year-old.
Southampton have not made a move as yet, with sources confirming that the German club are yet to receive an offer for the midfielder.
However, a departure ‘cannot be ruled out’ as several other clubs, Marseille, Nice and Lyon are all named, have ‘had their eye’ on Mangala and could rival Southampton for his signature.
