Actively looking for a new centre-back on the transfer market, Southampton appear to have decided that Duje Ćaleta-Car is their man.
This came after a report from France stated the player had already travelled to London in anticipation of a potential move, and the Saints were said to be one of the interested parties.
They were also looking at Loïc Badé and Alexander Djiku, but it’s Caleta-Car they seemingly going after, according to Foot Mercato journalist Constant Wicherek.
Taking to Twitter, he explains that Southampton are now the ones ‘very close to signing’ the Croatia international, who has featured for just seven minutes in Ligue 1 this season.
Maintenant c’est autour de Southampton d’être très proche de faire signer Duje Caleta-Car

He has been on the bench for three of the other four games, as he missed the first win of the season against Reims due to a yellow card suspension picked up last season.
This decision from Igor Tudor to leave him out of the squad means Southampton now appear close to be getting a player who has been linked for many years with a move to the Premier League.
It appears to be finally happening.
