Antoine Griezmann’s dramatic, and completely absurd, French TV show on Thursday night, in which he revealed he’s staying at Atletico Madrid rather than joining Barcelona, is already seeing reaction in the Catalan media.
Several players could be impacted and Mundo Deportivo say one is Paco Alcacer. If Barcelona don’t sign an attacker this summer than it could mean that Alcacer doesn’t have to leave, although it’s stated there’s a ‘very interesting transfer option’ in Southampton for the player.
On Thursday, Sport, another Catalan newspaper, covered reported Southampton interest and stated Barcelona want ‘a minimum of €30m’ which sounds rather on the ambitious aside.
Southampton interest, or at least reports of it, has been around for some time and it’s unclear whether the club are continually linked through a force of habit, or whether there’s anything genuine in the claims.
Mundo Deportivo believe there could be something in it, and the story is likely to rumble on.
