It’s been a while, but it seems Southampton’s love for François Kamano has yet to die, as one of Ralph Hasenhüttl’s men was present in France’s south-west on Sunday afternoon.
That’s what Girondis4Ever claimed ahead of the fixture, revealing the name of clubs with scouts expected to be present at the game.
Southampton were joined by Everton and Watford, as well as a flurry of Ligue 1 sides, and while they could have been there for a number of players, it’s the Guinea international who stands out at the likeliest candidate.
After all, the Saints’ interest dates back to late last year (and perhaps even before), when RMC Sport claimed there was interest in a 2019 January move for the winger, which never came about.
It was also claimed by another source they came ‘close’ to signing him at one point during that same window.
If they were there for their old flame, then Southampton will have liked what they saw, as Bordeaux walked away with a 2-0 win, with Kamano scoring the opener in the 37th minute.
