There’s good and bad news for Manchester City regarding the race to sign Éder Militão from São Paulo today.
Reports from England and Brazil have been suggesting that Pep Guardiola is keen on the 20-year-old, whose contract expires in January.
But now it seems Porto have strongly joined the race, with their attempt to get the player making it to O Jogo’s front page.
The newspaper claims The Dragons believe €2.3m should be enough to sign the player next summer. São Paulo would accept such a low amount so they won’t lose him for free on a pre-contract.
All the story sounds like Porto are really the club who are closest on signing the defender.
But it also sounds slightly weird, because first the English press suggested Manchester City could offer £20m, which we pointed out that was absurd, and then Brazilian outlets claimed the offer would be around €10m.
Now if Porto really land Militão for such a low amount, maybe it means Manchester City were never that interested in the player.
Or could Pep Guardiola just offer about €4m and get things done?
