Chelsea were actively looking to sign a defender during the summer transfer window, and are reportedly looking to sign another one in the near future, despite spending big money on David Luiz.
The London club have been linked to a number of Serie A defenders, but reports in France now link them to Marseille star Doria.
The 21-year-old has been speaking to French media outlet Canal Football Plus (via GFFN), and was asked about the reported interest from Chelsea.
Doria said: “Yes, I heard about it through social media. But I think that I need to continue to do my work. We have played 8 games, I need to continue… I don’t know [if it is true]. I found out about it like you did.”
The Brazilian defender said Chelsea are one of the biggest clubs in Europe, and that he can’t stop dreaming.
He added: “But that should not stop one from dreaming, they are one of biggest clubs in Europe. I am happy about these rumours, but what is most important is to continue playing well.”
Doria still has another three years left on his contract at Marseille, and it remains to be seen if Chelsea are genuinely keen on signing him.
