Eintracht Frankfurt got themselves a reasonable Champions League result last week with a 0-0 draw against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Bundesliga side are third in their group, level on points with Antonio Conte’s men, so the return match in London this week will be vital.

Unfortunately for Frankfurt, they’re not going into the game with the best preparation, having lost 3-0 to Bochum at the weekend.

Given Bochum are bottom of the Bundesliga, and had just a single point before getting three against Frankfurt, it was something of a shock result.

There’s obviously been a big reaction in the German media, with criticism of the display and those thought to be responsible for it, and there’s particular annoyance given it came so soon after the good performance against Tottenham.

Manager Oliver Glasner was frustrated after the match, and is quoted by Germany’s Focus as saying: “We deserved to lose. I take 100% responsibility for this defeat. It was my lineup and my system. A lot of things didn’t fit.

“We had the chance to take the lead at 0-0, later a shot hit the post and an offside goal. We conceded three goals from set pieces. Bitter.”

Sporting director Markus Krösche added: “Attitude, tackling values, footballing skills – something was missing from everything. We weren’t present or focused enough from the start. We weren’t good, we weren’t there.”
