With the Premier League transfer window coming close to its end, Moussa Marega’s situation at Porto becomes more and more delicate.
The striker hasn’t trained since he tried to force his way out to West Ham United, and the battle between him and the club goes on this week.
On Tuesday, newspaper Correio da Manhã claims that Marega is risking staying two years without playing if he keeps up this attitude.
The player is said to be stuck by the €40m release clause, and if West Ham don’t pay that much, he should stay at Porto until the end of his contract without playing.
That all sounds overly dramatic and, whilst Correio da Manhã don’t say so, Marega would be entitled to tear his contract up in such a situation.
Even though Marega’s agent had claimed he would be back in training on Monday, it didn’t happen, and now the club are threatening to keep him out of the squad for longer.
What Porto are especially mad about is that the player had an agreement to extend his contract with the Dragons, and changed his mind once West Ham’s offer arrived.
A story from newspaper Record claims that West Ham have not given up on him, but they don’t really show any concrete information to say the club will increase their €30m offer.
We’re pretty sure that Porto would sort things out with Marega if he stays for the season, but things don’t look good in this fight for now.
