As Mino Raiola flies off to Miami, to either have a celebratory drink with Paul Pogba or kick chairs around a pool area, the Italian media are running out of things to say.
The deal has been close, agreed, and everything in-between. Gazzetta dello Sport once again point out that Pogba and Raiola (not just Raiola, they keep making that clear) are due 20% of any deal.
This isn’t an agent fee, it was agreed in Pogba’s Juventus contract and the pair will no doubt feel they deserve it.
Raiola took Pogba to Juventus and has managed his career superbly since, also taking the time to help increase his perceived value via the media. Pogba himself has obviously had the biggest impact on his own career, and stayed at Juventus longer than many had expected.
Therefore it doesn’t sound too unreasonable that they asked for the clause, and that they get it. Juventus trying to push that down may well be a little churlish.
Anyway, Gazzetta feel all signs are pointing towards it being sorted. They point out Mourinho didn’t deny a deal is close, and they reckon Manchester United leaving the number 6 shirt vacant is a pretty good sign. The newspaper believe the ‘Octopus’ will be heading for Manchester United to sign, perhaps as early as next week.
Pogba is called the Octopus in Italy due to his playing style, it’s a nickname coined by fans and the media, he seems to have legs everywhere.
Il Polpo Paul.
