Two days ago, we covered claims from Italy that AS Roma are interested in Liverpool’s Xherdan Shaqiri.
The Switzerland international’s playing time with the Premier League club was restricted in the first half of the season, partly due to injuries. Things didn’t improve even after he regained full fitness.
He has six appearances in the league out of which only one came in 2020, which was in the Reds’ 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in January.
Since then, Jürgen Klopp left the 28-year-old out of the squad for eight matches in a row. It indicates ‘sign are goodbye’ for Shaqiri in the summer, according to Swiss newspaper Blick.
The Merseyside club have slapped an asking price of €30m on the winger, meaning they are willing to let him leave but want a big offer.
It’s claimed the player has a lot of suitors and the list includes the likes of AS Roma, Sevilla and CSKA Moscow.
Among these three sides, the ‘hottest trail’ leads to the Spanish club as they are preparing a ‘mega offer’ behind the scenes to acquire Shaqiri’s services. Sevilla also plan to lure the player to join them by offering him a ‘lucrative multi-year contract’.
A move away from Liverpool should help the wideman feature regularly again, provided he avoids picking up any injuries.
