After a few days of Italian reports that Marco Silvestri was set to join Hellas Verona, the Serie A club have announced the goalkeeper’s arrival.

Wednesday saw a conflicting claim come from Italy that Silvestri was set to renew with Leeds United, but the weight of claims was always heavily balanced the other way, so it’s no surprise to see Silvestri finally wearing the Hellas Verona shirt.

Felix Wiedwald arriving at leeds Untied signalled the end of Silvestri’s time at Elland Road. The German will expect to be first choice, and Leeds have good competition and back-up in former England international Rob Green.

Hellas Verona released the following statement on their website: ‘Hellas Verona FC announces that it has acquired outright Marco Silvestri from Leeds United. The goalkeeper, born in 1991, has already passed a medical and signed a contract until June 30th, 2021. In the evening we will reach the the base of Primiero to join his new teammates.’

Again, there’s no mention of a transfer fee, and Leeds United have kept that under wraps too. These things usually have a habit of leaking out, especially in the Italian media, so all may be revealed in the not too distant future.
