Sheffield Wednesday are about to complete the signing of Portimonense midfielder Momo Diaby, according to claims from Portugal.

Newspaper Record today reveals that the player ‘will switch’ clubs this summer.

It’s said that Sheffield Wednesday will sign the midfielder on loan, and should have an option to buy him next summer.

For now, there’s no information on how much the Owls will need to spend to trigger that clause.

It’s been a year since Portimonense signed Diaby, when they landed him on a free move from Paços Ferreira, and he signed a three-year deal with the club.

The midfielder made 28 appearances for them last season, and two more already this season, with Sheffield Wednesday’s offer now being good enough to make them give up on him.

Diaby’s Trasnfermarkt value is currently €400k, so the buying clause shouldn’t be very expensive for the Owls.

This summer, Sheffield Wednesday already conducted business in Portugal by signing Juan Delgado from Paços Ferreira. The club also announced the arrivals of Pol Valentín, Di’Shon Bernard, Anthony Musaba, Reece James, Bambo Diaby, Ashley Fletcher and Devis Vasquez.
