Sheffield United have expressed an interest in Barcelona goalkeeper Neto, with the Catalan giants wanting €22m for the Brazilian.
That’s according to Sport, who say the goalkeeper is on Barça’s sales list this summer as they trust the club’s youngsters Iñaki Peña and Arnau Tenas to back up Marc-André Ter Stegen.
The German goalkeeper is set to be out until November after undergoing knee surgery, and in theory, Neto would be the one to replace him at the start of next season.
However, their faith in the club’s youth means that him leaving is also an option and Barcelona have ‘received the interest’ of a Premier League club, specifically Sheffield United.
Whether Sheffield United are willing to pay that isn’t made clear, just that they are interested and have made that clear to Barcelona.
That, though, is strange in itself. They did need a new goalkeeper this summer after Dean Henderson returned to Manchester United but recently signed Aaron Ramsdale from Bournemouth for £18.5m.
It would be odd, then, if they were willing to pay another €22m for Neto, which makes this rumour unlikely to be one that turns into an actual move.
