As well as Axel Tuanzebe, Manchester United also accepted to loan out Anthony Martial, with the Frenchman heading to Sevilla for the rest of the season.
The striker had been out of favour under Ralf Rangnick and previously under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, which didn’t please the player, who made it clear he wanted to leave in January to get minutes.
With a World Cup just around the corner, that was somewhat understandable, and after a lot of negotiations with the La Liga side, Manchester United allowed him to leave temporarily.
The move caused a lot of excitement in Seville, with the town and the club excited to have such a talented player in their ranks, and it seems that’s already translated on the training pitch, as Óliver Torres explained to Mucho Deporte.
The midfielder said: “That players of this calibre choose Sevilla says a lot about Sevilla. He’s shy… Little by little we’ll have to get him into the banter here… He has things of the great player he is. He’s only been here for a few days. We train here at a very high pace, and he’s realised it. He said ‘there’s a lot of running here’. In front of goal, if he has the chance, he buries it and that makes the difference”.
His ability to create something out of nothing is one of the reasons Manchester United decided to buy him all those years ago, and that was fully on display with his first goal for the Red Devils against Liverpool soon after his arrival.
However, a series of purple patches and droughts followed, which led to other players overtaking him in the pecking order at Old Trafford.
Perhaps this is just what he needs to get his career back on track? Either way, some at Sevilla are already clearly impressed.
