Italian fullback Matteo Darmian was left out of the squad for Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Leicester City in the Community Shield match. That has obviously allowed the Italian media to begin rumours about his future at Old Trafford.
According to Italian website Calciomercato, several Serie A clubs would be interested in taking Darmian back to Italy.
Calciomercato say AS Roma, Napoli, and Juventus could be the possible destinations for Darmian. The 26-year-old still has a lot of admirers in Italy, but it remains to be seen if Manchester United are willing to part ways with him.
The Italian defender returned late for pre-season training due to Italy’s participation in the Euros, and it’s very much possible Mourinho left him out due to fitness concerns.
There is a chance the Italian media will try to make this a big issue in the upcoming days, so we should wait for more reports.
