Wednesday saw claims from Spain that Real Madrid have given up on signing Kylian Mbappe from Real Madrid. Los Blancos have grown tired of the drama around the potential deal and decided to shelve the idea.
Intriguingly, hours later, Rafaela Pimenta turned up at the Bernabeu to watch Madrid in action against SC Braga. The home team won the Champions League tie 3-0, and whilst it’s likely Pimenta’s visit was arranged before the Mbappe claims broke, it’s still got Spanish tongues wagging.
Pimenta, of course, represents Erling Haaland, who is the obvious alternative target for Carlo Ancelotti’s side. Thursday’s edition of AS states the Manchester City player has a €200m clause for next summer, only applicable for clubs outside the Premier League.
AS report Madrid are ‘very seriously’ considering going for an alternative to Mbappe, and Haaland is the man who springs to mind. It’s stated an issue could be convincing the Norway international to leave Manchester City, where he’s enjoyed great success under Pep Guardiola.
Pimenta’s visit has helped give this rumour a little nudge forward, despite her denying talks with Florentino Perez.
