Failing in their attempts to attract Lucas Perez to the club when he was still an Arsenal player, Frosinone have decided to throw their eggs in the basket of another Gunner: Joel Campbell.
The Costa Rica international, who has spent most of his time at the London club away on loan, doesn’t have much time left on his Emirates contract (it expires next year) meaning this summer is the last time Unai Emery’s side will be able to make money from his services.
Frosinone are said to be currently negotiating the 26-year-old’s exit from Arsenal, which we can only assume would be permanent, allowing him to restart his career anew somewhere free of too much pressure.
The Gunners’ forward spent last season on loan at Betis for the second time, having already done so during the 2012-13 campaign, and it says a lot about his career in England that he has more La Liga appearances (52) than Premier League ones (23).
Perhaps this is all for the best, and Campbell will be able to enjoy himself without knowing he’d have to return to London at the end of the season.
