In case you’d forgotten, and we wouldn’t blame you if you did, Achraf Lazaar is still a Newcastle player.
The Morocco international has been looking for an exit out of Rafa Benitez’s club since last season, and that’s despite the Spaniard signing him in the first place.
Last season at Benevento was easily forgettable for the 26-year-old, but he could still end up back in Italy, if Gazzetta dello Sport are to be believed.
According to the Italian newspaper, Genoa have targeted him to replace Diego Laxalt, who is now on his way to Milan for a fee of around €18m.
Needing to find a substitute for the Uruguayan, the Serie A side seem to think the Newcastle left-back’s experience in the league (68 appearances) will come in handy straight away.
No fee is mentioned, but considering the Magpies want to see him gone and his personal desire to get some first-team action, we can’t see it being all that much.
