The past week has seen Fiorentina try their best to bring in a midfielder to bolster their squad for the second half of the season, with West Ham’s Pedro Obiang top of their list.
Extremely close to allowing their player to leave, the Hammers pulled the plug on the deal at the last minute, leaving the Serie A side in the lurch.
However, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, Fiorentina have another option in mind: Manchester United’s Andreas Pereira.
The Brazil international has already been linked with the Italians this month, with claims the Red Devils could use their young midfielder as a ‘tool’ to get Nikola Milenkovic in return.
That part isn’t mentioned by Gazzetta, who simply state that should Bryan Dabo leave Fiorentina this month, which looks like a distinct possibility, they would try and get the Manchester United man on a loan without a view to buy.
This wouldn’t be the first time they tried to revive the career of someone at Old Trafford, having done so with Anderson in the past, who totalled eight appearances in six months there back in 2014.
Let’s hope that, if this happens for Pereira, his spell goes a little better.
