The arrival of Vincent Janssen at Istanbul airport has brought ‘great excitement’ report Spor and many others in Turkey. Tottenham’s Dutch striker signing on loan is real good news for Fenerbahce.
Sure, there had been dreams of Diego Costa arriving on loan from Chelsea, and the Premier League champions seemed rather up for that arrangement, but the striker himself will eternally hold out for Atletico Madrid.
Janssen moving to Turkey made sense, especially after De Telegraaf earlier this week gave the Dutch version on just how dire his situation at Tottenham is. Mauricio Pochettino may have uttered some kind words on Thursday, but there wasn’t a great deal of belief they’d turn into actions.
Arriving in Turkey, Janssen seemed a little overwhelmed by the situation, and the Turkish press have noticed.
Security personnel went to Janssen side and helped the ‘confused’ footballer through the airport, report Skorer, but his glum look leaves them headlining their article ‘Vincent Janssen seems to have been arrested’.
Turkish football fans are all over social media about the image.
Hurriyet ask ‘Is everything ok, Janssen?’ and there’s plenty more references to the player’s glum and seemingly worried expression.
But it’s all good natured and those who follow Turkish football seem to understand the whole arrival, rush for medical, and presentation, all done with a camera in the face, can be over the top.
And, there were some smiles…
