French newspaper L’Equipe have a big feature in their Tuesday edition on fans and standing. With a wish to help atmosphere and keep ticket prices affordable, standing is back on the agenda, it’s not longer ‘taboo’.

L’Equipe say clubs in England are also considering the idea, and are ‘seduced by the example of Celtic Park’.

Anything Celtic support related always seems a bonus for the European media.

With the club’s support known well and suspected across the continent, something only added to in recent years under Brendan Rodgers, there’s a feeling that if Celtic are doing it then it’s probably a good idea for atmosphere.

Celtic opened their safe standing section in 2016 with the introduction of rail seats, and it’s that kind of plan which other clubs are looking to follow.

It’s not been entirely without problem, but Celtic’s standing area has been a success and because such a club has done it well, others are increasingly tempted.
