Signed from Atlético Madrid back in 2018 after a year on loan, Diogo Jota has been one of the fun revelations of this season, scoring 15 goals in 36 appearances for Wolverhampton Wanderers in all competitions.
He’s excelled mostly in the Europa League, normally from the left, but his ability to find the back of the net has led Nuno Espírito Santo to try him through the middle as well.
This versatility and eye for goal hasn’t gone unnoticed, with TuttoMercatoWeb on Wednesday claiming the forward was a potential target for Napoli, as his name had been jotted down ‘in the notebook’.
Whose notebook wasn’t said, but Corriere dello Sport specify that on Thursday, explaining he’s caught the eye of their director of football, Cristiano Giuntoli.
There isn’t much more information other than the fact Manchester United are also keeping an eye on the Portuguese, as they look to bolster their squad for next season, clearly trying to push on from the good run of form they have found since the arrival of Bruno Fernandes.
What this does, however, is add a second source who believes Jota is a target for Napoli, and that’s something Wolves will have to deal with in the summer.
Good form leads to interest, and with the Portuguese and Raúl Jiménez in fine form, those in charge at Molineux could be dealing with offers left, right and centre in the coming months.
