Earlier on Friday, we covered an article in HLN regarding the Marouane Fellaini contract situation at Manchester United, and it was a bag of mixed news.
The Red Devils are said to have offered the Belgium international a one year deal with an option for an extra one, while the midfielder would prefer the security of knowing he can stay for a guaranteed two more years.
Within that same article, it was mentioned there was interest from the Premier League, Italy and Turkey, and it’s that middle country we’re going to be focusing on here.
Back in early April, Corriere dello Sport suggested that AS Roma, who were recently knocked out of the Champions League by Jürgen Klopp’s rampant Liverpool, were interested in Fellaini, having been offered the player.
Well, it appears Gazzetta dello Sport, a month later, have picked up that same trail, claiming the Manchester United man is an objective for the Serie A side should they lose some of their key players, like Kevin Strootman and Radja Nainggolan in the summer.
We’ve got a bit of an unwritten rule at Sport Witness that if Corriere and Gazzetta agree on something, it’s worth keeping an eye on.
And that’s exactly what we’re going to do in the coming weeks as Fellaini edges his way towards the end of his contract.
