According to a claim in the Italian media, Newcastle United defender Achraf Lazaar could be set for a move back to Italy. The left back only joined the Premier League side last summer from Palermo.
TMW have today reported Lazaar is being followed by Serie A sides Fiorentina and Genoa. The Morocco international looks surplus to requirements at Newcastle United, after hardly figuring under Rafa Benitez in his debut season in England.
Genoa have been linked with Lazaar in recent days, but it seems like they’ll now face competition from the Viola.
Lazaar only featured 10 times for Newcastle United last season, and an exit this summer would be no surprise.
The player has also been linked with a move to Turkey in the past week, but after his spell with Palermo it’s likely he would prefer a move back to Serie A.
With Newcastle United strongly linked with a move for Chelsea left back Kenedy, Lazaar may have to find a new club before the window closes.
