If the Pozzo family hoped that Ignacio Pussetto’s loan move to Udinese would help the player’s value rise then they’ll now be left very disappointed.
The 25-year-old joined Watford in the last winter transfer window, in a deal worth around £7m… to Udinese. Another in a long line of deals involving the two clubs, the plan will have been to give Pussetto a bigger stage and hopefully see his value rise.
Not making much of an impact in Serie A, nothing changed when the Argentine moved to Watford, unable to have much of a say as the Hornets were relegated from the Premier League.
That saw him sent back on loan to Udinese, and things were looking up with three goals and two assists in 11 Serie A appearances. Then Pussetto picked up a knee injury and Messaggero Veneto report ‘for him, the season is over’.
The Watford owned player underwent surgery in Rome on Monday, as Professor Mariani ‘reconstructed his anterior cruciate ligament’.
Given the loan ends at the end of this season, that will see the player return to Watford in a worse situation than when he left them.
