Former Everton scout Carlo Jacomuzzi has revealed Everton had had videos and assessments on Napoli star Kim Min-jae before his move to Italy.

The former scout has been speaking to Radio Marte in Italy, relayed by Area Napoli, about the Serie A champions current squad and how they have been assembled for what many now consider a bargain price.

Kim is one of those who has been a star for the Italian champions this season, filling the void left behind by Kalidou Koulibaly and establishing himself as one of the best defenders in Europe after arriving from Fenerbahçe in an €18.5m deal.

He’s now being heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, where Manchester United are seemingly ready to pay €50m to secure his signature.

He could have ended up in England much sooner, though, with Jacomuzzi revealing on more than one occasion how he had recommended him to Everton.

He’s now gone on step further and insisted the Blues even had all the video evidence they could want on the centre-back but decided against a deal because of his valuation in Turkey.

“Kim next at United? At Everton we already had all his videos, in England they have noticed him for some time,” he said.

“In Turkey he came into the limelight, but before in the Premier there were doubts about the money it would take to buy him.

“After the Scudetto with Napoli, the Korean has shown that he has reached an enviable level of play: he can do a bit of everything and it’s fitting that he is liked in England.

“He is the typical player, perfect for the Premier League. Liverpool’s van Dijk resembles him, for example.”
