Newcastle United star Bruno Guimarães was quite disappointed with the draw against Paris Saint Germain last night.
Following the Champions League clash, the 26-year-old had a chat with the Brazilian media, speaking to TNT Sports about the game.
Guimarães talked about his ‘frustration’ with the result, insisting PSG should never have been awarded a penalty, and journalist Clara Albuquerque mentioned that Kylian Mbappé said the French side dominated the game and talked down the Magpies.
The Brazilian didn’t agree with that at all, and claimed that Newcastle actually deserved to win.
“Look, I think they were better in the second half. In the first half we were very open, Isak also had a chance to score right at the start. Anyway, he’s going to defend his side, I’m going to defend mine,” Bruno Guimarães told TNT Sports.
“I think we stuck to what we had trained for, with all the absentees we had, we know that playing here is very difficult. Anyway, when we played at home, we scored four against them. We mustn’t forget that either. I think we should have won today too.”
Newcastle will play the group stage’s final fixture against AC Milan, hoping that Borussia Dortmund will beat PSG. Bruno Guimarães says they’ll be have to do their job at home, and will pray that the other result will go their way.
“We can count on the support of our fans as always. We know we’re very strong at home. We’re proving that every year. We hope to go there, create a marvellous atmosphere, try to get the three points, do our bit and leave the rest up to God.”
Prior to the Champions League clash against the Rossoneri, there’s no doubt the Magpies need a big focus on the Premier League. They have important matches against Manchester United, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur before they can think of the European competition once again.
