West Bromwich Albion will have to battle with Schalke for the signature of winger Matheus Pereira this summer, according to Record.
The Baggies are reshaping their squad for new manager Slaven Bilic and have seemingly identified the Brazilian as a man they’d like to sign.
They have been linked with him repeatedly and Record report today he’s close to a move.
A source close to the player has told the newspaper Pereira has a choice between the Hawthorns or Schalke.
Current club Sporting have decided that they don’t want the 23-year-old, and Record believe that next week could see his future sorted.
There is no mention of what sort of deal could be happening, so there’s no explanation if it’s a permanent deal or loan, just that the two clubs are his options.
However, earlier this week we covered an O Jogo report that stated Sporting are either looking for €15m in a permanent sale or a €1m loan with a €12m fee at the end of it.
Both Schalke and West Brom were said to be aware of those conditions, so it’s unlikely the situation has changed from there.
