Mateo Musacchio spent eight seasons at Villarreal before moving to AC Milan in the summer of 2017.
Prior to joining the Rossoneri, the centre-back was linked with a move to the Premier League, with clubs like Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur reportedly keen on him.
It was also suggested the La Liga side rejected an offer from the north London club.
Marcelo Lombilla, the agent of Musacchio has given an interview to Milan News, and during the course of it the representative revealed his client turned down Tottenham on two occasions in the past and took no time to give his approval to join the Serie A side.
“In December, to give you an idea, when he was playing and was at a very high level, as well as the team, at that time I was in Italy with him. I saw Mateo of the national team and Villarreal again,” Lombilla said.
“He didn’t want me to talk to two very important Spanish teams and an English team, he didn’t even want me to sit down to listen. He didn’t want to, the way he felt involved in Milan and how well he was doing. He’s fine at Milan, he’s always loved the club and he’s always wanted it.”
“In 2017 we said no to Tottenham twice, and in 30 seconds we said yes to Milan.”
Musacchio was a regular figure in the Italian club’s starting lineup until the end of last year. He has lost prominence in the starting XI in 2020 and is the third-choice centre-back at the San Siro.
With a contract until 2021, Lombilla explained his client may be forced to evaluate his future, given his situation.
“If we don’t see eye to eye with the club, then we’ll consider how to continue. Mateo has over a year left on his contract and will have to evaluate his future,” the agent stressed.
