Football agent Alexander Manyakov has spoken to Russian website Sports.Ru about CSKA Moscow midfielder Alexander Golovin, and claims Southampton and Newcastle United are interested in the player.
The young midfielder has recently been linked with a switch to Brighton and Hove Albion, and it seems his performances against Arsenal in the Europa League have also caught the eye of Southampton and Newcastle.
Manyakov said on Golovin moving in the summer window: “He needs to leave. As far as I know, there are offers from Premier League clubs but not from the Top 6. I know that Southampton and Newcastle are showing an interest but he has a contract with CSKA.”
The Russian agent also said CSKA Moscow will be looking to get €20m for Golovin if he were to move in the next transfer window, and expects the World Cup to enhance the international’s profile.
Southampton’s pursuit of Golovin is likely to depend on whether they remain in the Premier League, with the Saints still in the bottom three.
Newcastle United on the other hand will be playing in the top flight next season and will be more confident in their pursuit of the player.
