Earlier this week, claims from the UK explained that Lazio and AS Roma are weighing making offers for Leeds United’s Wilfried Gnonto. It was also said the forward, who is thought to be keen to leave Leeds in January, is open to a move to Serie A.
Corriere dello Sport have relayed that and given their own take on the possibility of the 19-year-old joining Lazio.
It’s claimed the reports of Lazio interest in the winger are ‘only rumours’ at the moment, and that the Serie A side aren’t planning to make any additions to their attack in January.
The newspaper explains that Maurizio Sarri’s side made an approach for the Leeds player in the last window, but his valuation was deemed excessive.
Corriere claim the Italy international wants to leave the Championship side for a team in Serie A or the Premier League, and after failing to get a move away from Leeds last summer, his ‘will has not changed’.
However, a move to Lazio in the winter market has been been dismissed. At the same time, the report suggests Gnonto would be of interest to Sarri’s side after this season.
They could ‘think about’ adding a winger next summer, depending on the situations with Felipe Anderson and Mattia Zaccagni, who have deals until 2024 and 2025 respectively.
