You may have heard that Eden Hazard is once again injured.
In Spain it’s big news, with every sport newspaper reporting at length about the player’s troubles since his move from Chelsea to Real Madrid.
Zinedine Zidane had long wanted the Belgium, yet Florentino Perez never seemed quite as convinced. When it came to him running down his contract at Chelsea, the opportunity seemed too good to resist and Madrid took the plunge.
The Spanish media clearly believe that’s something they regret.
Thursday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo states this is Hazard’s tenth injury since he moved fro Chelsea, and he’s already missed 44 matches for Real Madrid.
Not only that, it’s explained that every time Hazard returns from injury it takes him a while to get back to his best and he’s sometimes even injured again before he manages that.
Given the struggles, Mundo say the money sent to Chelsea was ‘a ruinous figure’. They put the fee at €160m, which presumably includes additional costs.
Those 44 matches missed are from a total of the 79 Real Madrid have played since Hazard’s arrival, leading Mundo to call it a ‘scandalous figure’ of absences.
